Every year, Apple promises to give us the “best iPhone yet.” And this year, the iPhone 16 Pro Max might actually live up to that claim — depending on what you expect from your phone.
I spent a full week with the iPhone 16 Pro Max here in Dhaka, using it just like you would: making calls, taking photos, using apps, watching YouTube, and navigating the busy streets of the city. This is not a technical review — this is how it feels to actually live with the phone. Let’s dive in.
Design: Lighter, More Comfortable, Still Familiar
At first glance, the iPhone 16 Pro Max looks almost identical to the 15 Pro Max. But don’t be fooled — the feel in the hand is noticeably better.
Apple has switched to a titanium frame, which makes the phone lighter and easier to hold. For a device this big, this is a very welcome change. I often use my phone one-handed while commuting, and this year’s Pro Max felt less fatiguing.
The new Matte Black and Titanium Blue colors also look fantastic — elegant without being flashy.
Bezels are thinner now, giving the front an almost edge-to-edge look. While most people won’t notice this at first, side-by-side with last year’s model, the difference is obvious.
Display: Stunning Quality, Even in the Brightest Sun
This is hands-down the best display I’ve used on a phone.
The 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display is incredibly sharp, vibrant, and — most importantly for us in Bangladesh — very bright. With up to 3000 nits of peak brightness, I could easily read texts and watch videos even during a sunny afternoon at Hatirjheel.
The 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate makes everything feel smooth — scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, or even news sites is a joy. Whether you’re watching YouTube at night or using Maps in bright daylight, this display delivers.
Performance:
Apple’s new A18 Pro chip is a beast. It’s one of those things you may not notice at first — because it just works so effortlessly.
Apps open instantly. Heavy games like PUBG Mobile and Genshin Impact run flawlessly at max settings. I even did some basic video editing right on the phone — no hiccups, no heating issues. For everyday tasks — messaging, browsing, streaming — this phone feels fast, fluid, and future-proof.
However, if you’re coming from an iPhone 15 Pro Max, the speed difference isn’t life-changing. But for anyone using an iPhone 13 or older, the jump in performance is very noticeable.
Cameras: Where the iPhone 16 Pro Max Truly Shines 📸
Apple put a lot of effort into improving the cameras this year, and it shows.
Main Camera
The 48MP main sensor delivers stunning photos with rich detail and great dynamic range. Daylight shots look fantastic — vibrant without being oversaturated.
Zoom
The new 5x optical zoom is a game changer. I used it to snap photos of birds from a distance and capture architectural details around Lalbagh Fort — results were crisp and sharp.
Low-Light Photography
Low-light performance is excellent. I took photos at a late-night tea stall in Mohammadpur, and they came out with realistic colors and minimal noise. Apple’s processing now handles nighttime shots better than ever.
Video
For video lovers, the phone supports 4K ProRes recording across all lenses. This will be a dream for content creators, vloggers, and anyone shooting for YouTube or Instagram Reels.
One minor complaint: the ultra-wide lens is good, but not as sharp as I’d hoped. Apple could still improve this in future models.
Battery Life: Easily Lasts a Full Day
Battery life on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is excellent.
In my testing, I got about 8 to 9 hours of screen-on time — which translates to a full day of heavy use. Even on days with lots of photography and video recording, the phone comfortably made it to bedtime with charge left. MagSafe wireless charging works great, but I do wish Apple would catch up to Android in terms of fast wired charging — it still feels slow by comparison.
Everyday Experience: A True Flagship Feel
Using the iPhone 16 Pro Max daily felt effortless and enjoyable:
- Face ID is even faster and more accurate now.
- Call quality was crystal clear — both on mobile data and Wi-Fi calling.
- Haptic feedback (vibrations) is subtle but precise, making the phone feel more responsive.
- iOS 18 runs very smoothly on this device, with thoughtful new features that improve usability.
Should You Upgrade?
You should definitely upgrade if:
✅ You’re using an iPhone 13 Pro Max or older
✅ You want the best iPhone camera experience
✅ You create a lot of video content or care about mobile photography
You can skip this upgrade if:
❌ You already have an iPhone 15 Pro Max — not enough has changed
❌ You are on a tighter budget — older iPhones still offer great value
The Best iPhone, But Not Cheap
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is without question the best iPhone Apple has ever made. It’s fast, beautiful, reliable, and takes stunning photos and videos.
But it comes at a premium price in Bangladesh — expect to pay well over ৳2,00,000 when buying from local retailers. If budget is not a concern and you want the ultimate iPhone experience, this is the phone to get.
If you’re happy with your current iPhone or want better value, the iPhone 15 Pro Max or even 14 Pro Max are still excellent options.
And Finally
Apple continues to refine its Pro Max formula — and while this year’s update isn’t revolutionary, it delivers exactly what iPhone fans expect: performance, beauty, and an amazing camera.
For those of us here in Bangladesh, where phone prices are rising fast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is a true luxury — but one that absolutely delivers.
